Connected Educator Chapter Five

Chapter Five shows the audience to explore free and affordable technologies and virtual environments that support collaborative learning. Throughout the first couple pages of the chapter, it is clear that there are numerous websites that will be beneficial to an individual's future career. For example, my future career is to become a music journalist. I think learning about these different technologies is significant because I honestly have not heard of some before. Digging deeper into what these technologies actually are, I can reflect on how they will be useful for me and my future profession. As I am starting to write more blogs, I have realized that they are an important tool for connecting and collaborating. Many people use blogs to submit journal-like entries and posts. For example, in the reading it has been stated in 2010 by The Nielsen Company that "At the time of this writing, there are an estimated 146 million blogs, and each day about 40,000 new ones are created" (Hall and Nussbaum-Beach). Another tool that I think is on the rise are podcasts. I feel like in today's time, they are becoming more popular.. With podcasts, I think it is important to listen to content because you can voice your own opinion and how you really feel about a certain topic. In all honesty, I would not mind making one because since I want to become a music journalist, I think it would be cool to interview new music artists. Now, to whoever is reading this, I have a question for you: If you had the chance to create a podcast that discusses music, what genre would you talk about and why?

  1. Hi Taliana! I really enjoyed reading your blog. I thought you did a great job summarizing the chapter and relating it to your future career. I also plan to pursue a career in music journalism, and I am curious, have you used any of these tools recently and how have they benefited you and your work?

  3. Hey Taliana, great job recapping the chapter and relating it back to the reader. Funny enough, I worked on my own podcast for the majority of my Audio Production II class at ACCC. I centered it around my obsession for Mario Kart, but to answer your question, if I were to do a podcast that's music-related, it would probably be on either the darkwave or dream pop genre. They are two really great genres that often go overlooked, and so I think there would be a lot to discuss there! Great job once again!
