Connected Educator Chapter Two
Throughout this chapter, it summarizes how connected learners bring together existing and new practices to create connected learning communities that shift learning to a higher level. It also includes how the audience can build skill as a connected learner and increase their understanding. Within the chapter, there are some sentences that start with 'in the classroom', 'in a school', or 'as a teacher'. I took some of these sentences and related them as my future profession. For example, my future profession as a music journalist "can employ a range of web-based technology tools to connect, collaborate, work collegially, and reflect while immersing members in inquiry-based learning." Since I want to be a music journalist, I think it is important to connect and work with others to share my work. With this, I can get some feedback to make sure my writing is strong and is worth publishing. I also think it is important to make sure it is worth reading because I want to share my work with my audience. Another example is my future profession as a music journalist can "learn by making and developing connection (intentionally or not) between ideas, experience, and information" and "learn by interacting, sharing, understanding, accepting, commenting, and creating". These sentences can benefit me from my future career because I will mostly be writing about my opinions within my work. I can use my ideas, experience, and information to write my pieces and to do so, I can get this from interacting, sharing, understanding, accepting, commenting and creating things from my peers.
Hi Taliana, I found that the connection you made with chapter 2 and your future profession as a music journalist really interesting and I agree with everything you said. Connected learning communities would be fantastic for a career like music journalism. This is because everyone has a different opinion on different kinds of music and how music should be made or sound. This would allow you to learn so much about how others in the field view things in comparison to yourself. This could also open doors to networking with people or artists that you never thought you could reach.
ReplyDeleteGreat job at relating the text to your future profession! I think it's really neat that you want to become a music journalist and I definitely think there are benefits that will come out of collaborating with your peers. In your case, I can see how networking with others in the field may help to expand your knowledge of the industry, especially when working with others who have been in it for awhile. Learning the ins and outs of the trade, and relating your experience with others, whether that be photographers, event organizers, radio stations, etc., can help aid your understanding of the field and how it operates. Really solid write-up and I wish you the best of luck in your journey!
ReplyDeleteHi Taliana! The internet is so important in connecting with colleagues! I like how you related this chapter to your past and present experiences. Creatives live and die off of networking so it's so important. I was wondering if you could expand a bit more on how that might happen in your field and I would like to learn more about the field of music journalism! Great stuff!
